Buyer FAQs


How do I apply to become a registered VICCI Buyer?
Visit the VICCI registration page, complete all required fields, and submit. You will receive email notification to validate your email and you are free to enjoy our site. 

Can anyone become a buyer at VICCI Car Auctions?
No. A registration and approval process is required, as well as credit card verification and email validation.  VICCI uses dynamic knowledge-based authentication as a comprehensive solution to affirm that a consumer is who they claim to be.

Why do you require my credit card to register?
Credit cards are required to bid or sell a car. They will not be stored or sold to third parties.  Cards are used as part of our verification process to help protect our clients.

Is there a bidder credit hold required to make a bid?
No.

Can I reach out to the seller and negotiate the sale off line?  
No.  Off-line sales or other attempts to circumvent the protections provided by VICCI Auctions (by buyers or sellers) will result in suspension or permanent banning from our site.

What are acceptable methods of payment for the purchase of a vehicle?
That is between you and the seller, but we recommend all payments be made in the form of certified funds. This includes cash, wire transfers and certified checks. 

What credit cards does VICCI Car Auctions accept?
VICCI accepts Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

What is a buyer's premium?
A buyer's premium is a percentage of your bid that is charged on top of the final bid price. Buyer's premium is a set percentage that is non-negotiable. The buyer's premium for all auctions is 6%, which is charged to your card at the final sale.  The buyer's premium for all fixed listings is $395.00

Is the buyer's premium negotiable?
No.

What does "offered without reserve" mean?
The car will be sold to the highest bidder without any minimum (reserve) price being required.

What is bidding increment?
The standardized amount an item increases in price after each new bid.

VICCI’s bidding increment is $250.

What happens if the reserve price is not reached on an item?
If the reserve price is not met by the auction end time, the car will remain unsold. We will automatically get the car ready for a fixed pricing listing.  You will have to login to your account and click on “Active and Pending Cars”.  Scroll down to the pending section, click on the car in question and add your fixed amount.  Then click submit.  Your listing will be made live immediately.    

If I’m interested in shipping my vehicle, where can I get a quote? 
If you are interested in a shipping quote, we will need to know if you want enclosed or open transport., insured or uninsured, starting and ending destination.  Please Click here to contact us for a quote.

Do you offering leasing on all vehicles?
We can offer a leasing option on many of our vehicles.  Due to the nature of our sales, you will need to be approved before bidding to insure terms are met prior to the hammer dropping.  To inquire about leasing, please contact us.

Seller FAQs


What does it cost to sell my car at VICCI Online Car Auctions?
The listing fee is $169.  This includes a third party to come to your vehicle and provide verification for the security of all parties.  It also includes a vehicle history report.  This is the only fee to sell your car. 

How am I protected from fraud?
Although there is no way to eliminate 100% of the risk, VICCI does more than any other online company.   By only allowing financial transactions by vetted registered users and the utilization of six tiers of vetting, including dynamic knowledge-based authentication, we offer a comprehensive solution to affirm that a consumer is who they claim to be.

What is a seller's commission?
A seller's commission is the amount owed to VICCI for the sale of a vehicle.  It is also called a Buyer’s Premium.  This fee is 6% for auction vehicles and $395 for fixed listings and is charged to the buyer.

If I enter a car to be sold at auction, is the entry fee refundable?
No. The entry fee covers third party verification, a vehicle history report and all website and marketing costs prior to the sale.

What does "offered without reserve" mean?
The car will be sold to the highest bidder without any minimum (reserve) price being required.

What happens if the reserve price is not reached on an item?
The auctioneer will "pass" on the item once it is clear that there are no more interested bidders and then convert your auction listing to a fixed price listing , free of charge.

I sold a car; when will I be paid?
All payment is worked out between buyer and seller.  VICCI takes no responsibility for payment to sellers, although we will assist the seller if there becomes an issue.

When do I need to deliver my car to the buyer?
This varies from sale to sale. Terms must be negotiated and agreed upon between you and the buyer.

Online Bidding FAQ


Do I need to be a VICCI registered user to be eligible for online bidding?
Yes. A registration and approval process is required, as well as credit card verification and email validation.  VICCI uses dynamic knowledge-based authentication as a comprehensive solution to affirm that a consumer is who they claim to be. 

Is there a fee for bidding online?
No.

I see that there will be an authorization on my credit card. Will this be refunded to me after the sale?
The $1 authorization on your credit card is not an actual charge. This is simply a credit validation which will automatically be removed from your account between 3-10 business days following the auction. This will not show up on your credit statement and will not cause interest to accrue on your account.

What if I don't have a credit card?
In order to bid we require a credit card on file.  

Will I be able to see the auction bidding in real time?
Yes, you will be able to see bids as they are submitted.

If I am the successful buyer, will someone contact me with payment and shipping instructions?
Yes, if you win an auction, the seller will contact you within 24 to 48 hours to discuss payment and shipping options.  VICCI will also notify you via email immediately after the auction ends.


Account FAQs
 

I have created an online account, but I can't seem to log in.
Please check your email to see if you have received a confirmation email from VICCI with instructions on how to verify your account. This email could have been caught by your spam blocker, so please be sure to check your junk mail folder. If you have successfully created an online account and have not received the confirmation email, please click here to notify one of our Client Services representatives.  If you forget your password, click Forgot Password an email will be sent to your email address on file so you can reset your password.

When will my account be approved?
Once email verification has completed the verification process, typically within minutes.

Where is my account information, emails, online activity, etc?
In the top right you will see "Welcome *screen name*.   Your profile is found here.  You can find Emails, Watch & Bid List, Cars Won, Auctions Lost, Listings, Cars Sold, Unsold Cars, My Offers and your profile for management of bidding limits, email accounts, newsletter notifications, etc.
